Does NF AI have to affect Prophesies AI?
Prophesies was/is the first chapter to GW. Factions is the second and Nightfall the third chapter. Each new chapter should be more difficult than the previous, but does each succeding chapter have to effect the way Prophesies is played? There is a lot of beefing going on about the AI from last update. I personally don't like the last updates. Since they are apparently for NF, why must I have to feel the effects of the changes in Prophesies? When I am ready to advance to the next chapter, I will buy it. Please, don't force me to advance to the next level till I am ready.

Um, it's kinda hard to do an AI update without doing ALL the AI. The new updates are much better, you can actually make henchmen group around you, or run away.

Some of us can't spend hours at a time playing a game. NF just came out and people have already finished it. Must have nothing else to do or it is just a short chapter. I spend at most an hour or two here and there and up to 6 hours over a weekend playing. I don't sit down to rush thru it.

Every chapter is meant to be a stand alone game. That means that they are all meant to be equally hard. If they apply an AI update to one chapter, then it will apply to all. Also, the AI update does make enemies smarter, but it also is supposed to make henchies smarter too, so technically, it's not getting any harder.
EDIT
Oh, and you should ignor posts like what eudas posted. They are just meant to get people (this time you) angry.
And like I said before, they are stand alones, which means they are equally hard. Plus there are many things that are core features, so they apply to all chapters. Things like AI, dyes, materials, and many other things are core features, so when one is updated, it's updated in all chapters.

Yeah. First of all the people who "beat" NF didn't really play it. They ran it.
Second of all, the AI update makes playing NF just as hard as play prophecies and vice versa (in theory). They are all equal in a way.

No they didn't run it. You can't run NF. The missions don't activate unless you do them in sequence.

In this case what I think HawkofStorms meant is that people rushed through the game. Remember how people were saying two days after release that they beat it?

Alright seriously people need to lay off the insults. Just because someone takes 12 years to play something doesn't mean their bad or have no skills or anything. Maybe they play 1 day a week, or enjoying taking their sweet ass time to play it so they can enjoy the 50+ bucks they shelled out for it. You want to beat the game in 2 days thats your business don't go flaming others on how they like to play.
As for the OP I feel you on what your saying but you gotta understand that the games while designed to be standalone also function as a unit. Having seperate Ai for each game would be a logisitical nightmare for the Devs. And lets face it they already have enough work as is without attempting to tweak three different sets of AI. And also if you look at it this way, if they kept each game seperate Prophecies and Factions would probably never recieve updates or bug fixes. The best any of us can tell you is grit down and bear through it, just watch you aggro bubble and where your running the henchies.
And Spirit of the Sea no where does this say its a petition. So take your /notsign and find youself a petition where your /notsigned will actually make a difference.

Actually, it's rather easy to answer using what we know about the game.
The AI is a core game mechanic. It makes the mobs act or in some cases just stand and look dumb... but, in either case, being a mechanic of the game makes it not possible to seperate it between chapters, or at least nearly impossible without more work than Anet wants to do with it.
I would imagine Anet could script in tags to each and every different race of mobs a different action/reaction script, but I imagine they would smartly take an easier route of tagging mobs with Ai scripting types of 1 through 3 (a guesstimate) and assign numbers 1 to 3 for mobs types (bosses, creatures and humanoid)... then subclass those with the class of skills that mob uses. Hundreds of hours alone in just that... and that's a very dumbed down AI model... very dumbed down.

To the OP:
Yes.
AI, the graphics engine, how the game loads, game physics, etc is common to all chapters because Guild Wars is ONE game.
IMO, all the content to NF is downloaded by everyone, regardless of what chapter they own. All that a serial number/key does is give you access to the new maps and such.

Ok - I may already have NF on my comp and getting the updates even though I don't have access. Best answer to date. Thank you lyra.
Most sequences I have bought in the past were completely separate games. This game is just 1 long continuious game not 3 individuals, but again they are.
